Gregory Bond appeared Wednesday on a felony evading arrest count and other charges after police say he drove away during a March 2 traffic stop on Muse Street.

Police say they stopped a black Audi TT convertible just before 5 p.m. on Muse Street in east Jackson, according to court documents.

Bond was the only person in the car, and officers found that his driver’s license was suspended.

As officers were talking to Bond, he suddenly put the car in drive and fled. Police pursued Bond south on Muse Street in a chase that exceeded 70 mph.

Bond turned left onto East Forest Avenue and then right onto North Royal Street, sliding and nearly loosing control at the intersection, according to court papers.

Bond continued south on North Royal Street driving in and out of oncoming traffic until making a right onto East Chester Street.

The pursuing officers were advised to stop the pursuit due to Bond’s reckless and negligent driving, court documents say.
