Memphis, Middle Tennessee meet in rainy Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn — The rain didn’t stop Memphis and Middle Tennessee’s baseball teams from hitting the diamond Wednesday night, as the Blue Raiders won their second-straight off the Tigers in a 3-1 win in 6 innings.
Players who are from the Hub City originally said getting a chance to play in a stadium they grew up watching baseball in is a special experience.
“Coming to these games when you’re younger, watching the fireworks at the fireworks games here and watching, wanting to be like these guys and then being able to get on this field and play a game where these guys play, its an awesome experience,” Memphis Tiger’s shortstop and former USJ baseball player, Jake Overbey said.
“Lots of family and friends, you know, parents come down every weekend to Memphis, but a lot of friends that I haven’t gotten to see for the past couple years, I get to see them on games like this coming back to Jackson so it’s pretty neat,” Memphis pitcher and former USJ baseball player Ryan Garner explained.
This is the first season the Tigers and Blue Raiders have brought a game of their series to the Hub City.
