Union men’s basketball team confident heading into NCAA Tournament
JACKSON, Tenn — Just days away from the NCAA Division-II Tournament tipping off, the Union Bulldogs said they’re ready to play the underdog when they hit the road to Huntsville.
Union’s men have spent the week getting ready for Eckerd College on Saturday.
The Bulldogs have beaten the South Region’s top seed once already this year, and that’s a reason coaches and players said having confidence coming into the national tournament is no problem for them.
“We can beat any team,” senior forward, Jordan Montgomery said Wednesday afternoon. “Numbers to me don’t matter, and so when you look at rankings and the region, or even in the conference to me, they’re just numbers and the only numbers that really matters is whats on the scoreboard.”
“We’ve been a team that’s really thrived in situations where we were an underdog and so this is one of those, but I don’t think there’ll be a lack of confidence in these guys when we step on the floor,” Union Men’s Basketball Coach, David Niven explained.
Union tips off NCAA tournament play Saturday at 2:30 PM.
