UPDATE: MCSO identifies officer killed in motorcycle accident

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. –A late night crash kills a Madison County sheriff’s deputy, according to the department.

Deputies say 39-year-old Matthew Doty lost control of his motorcycle around 10:00 p.m. Sunday while at exit 87 off Interstate 40.

The sheriff’s office says the deputy was off duty and headed home at the time of the accident.

Investigators say Doty leaves behind a wife and children.
