USM’s Asbury Hall 50 percent complete
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Bigger rooms, the latest technology, walls that are white boards, a food court – those are just some of the selling points of Asbury Hall – the new building that will house the University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Nursing come October.
Katherine Nugent, the college’s dean, tells The Hattiesburg American the $31 million building is currently about 50 percent finished.
The move-in date is Oct. 6. Classes will begin there in spring 2017.
Asbury Hall has 135 percent more square footage than Harkins Hall, where the College of Nursing is currently located.
The money for construction has come from federal funds, state bonding and private donations, with the Asbury Foundation contributing $4 million.
