U.S. Marshals in St. Louis arrest fugitive wanted in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — U.S. Marshals arrested a fugitive wanted on an aggravated statutory rape charge in Humboldt on Thursday in St. Louis.

Acting on a tip, Marshals in Tennessee contacted the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force who then arrested Michael Jones, according to a release from the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Jones was wanted in Tennessee, Missouri and Iowa. The charge in Tennessee stemmed from a 2013 case out of Humboldt.

Marshals had been seeking Jones since the Humboldt Police Department requested their assistance in November 2014.

Jones was also wanted by the Missouri Department of Correction for violation of parole and by the Des Moines Iowa Police Department for child molestation, according to the release. Jones was on the Most Wanted Fugitives List in Missouri after he fled their jurisdiction in February of 2014.

Jones is being held in the St. Louis City Justice Center.
