New Life Christian Center hosted their third annual “First Responders Day” thanking those who risk their lives everyday.

“I think it’s very important I think most of them if not all of them put their lives on the line everyday and so it is a way that we can show them that we appreciate the job that they do for us,” coordinator Charity Singleton.

Police officers, deputies, troopers, firefighters, and EMS were present as the church recognized them for their service to their communities.

“I appreciate them so much it’s a calling it is a calling from God many of them would tell you that they would not do anything else, we don’t understand why they do what they do,” Jackson City Mayor Jerry Gist said.

First responders that attended said they believe it’s important for the community to develop a close relationship with those who protect and serve.

“I hope that our community that this recognition of first responders take hope in the city and spread across the entire city as a whole,” Rico Bryson said with the Jackson Fire Department.
