African American Chamber of Commerce to host summer job training program for youths
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — With summer break just a few months away, the Jackson-Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce is looking to help teens focus on their future this summer.
Applications for the chamber’s summer job training program, Follow Me Into Business, are available to pick up until this Friday.
Kids and teens ages 12 through 18 are eligible for the eight-week summer program which includes mentoring, workshops and job shadowing.
“It teaches the children how to work, what is expected of them on the job, and it helps them to present themselves in a manner as to which they would be employable,” JMCAACC Secretary Nell Huntspon said.
Applications are due at the flower shop on North Royal Street by 5 p.m. on April 1.
Students who complete the summer program will receive a stipend and membership in the Youth Chamber.
