Local students learn from experts during annual safety event
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Some West Tennessee students got a chance Tuesday to travel to Yorkville to participate in an annual safety event.
Todd Family Safety Day began at 8 a.m. and ended around 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Students got the chance to learn from experts in fields including fire, police and EMS as well as other agencies including the TWRA.
“Accidents can happen. And when accidents happen, hopefully it’s not because of something that people didn’t think about,” Safety Day coordinator Martha Todd said. “So we try to educate them so that they can think before they act.”
The annual event usually attracts thousands of students each year.
