Marshall County man to complete sentence after appeal denied
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals has denied a Marshall County man’s request for post-conviction relief.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the appeals court ruled Tuesday that 23-year-old Dillion Williams will have to complete his 65-year prison sentence.
Williams was 17 years old when he pleaded guilty in 2010 to beating a 91-year-old woman while burglarizing her Byhalia home.
A judge sentenced Williams to 25 years for burglary and 20 years on the aggravated assault, which was enhanced and doubled to 40 years because the victim was over 65.
Williams says he never waived his right to sentencing by a jury on the enhancement.
