2 arrested after man flees during Milan traffic stop
MILAN, Tenn. — Two men are facing charges after a Wednesday traffic stop for seat belt violations in Milan.
Lavokeous Ivory, 22, the passenger, and driver Marcayus Ross, 28, both of Milan, were arrested after Ivory ran and then threw down a gun, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. They say Ivory was also wearing a bullet-proof vest.
A state trooper stopped a Chrevrolet Cruz driven by Ross just after 1:30 p.m. on Stewart Street because Ross and the passenger weren’t wearing seat belts, according to the THP.
While the trooper was running the driver’s license, the passenger fled on foot. As the trooper was trying to catch him, he saw the man pull a gun from his waistband. The man reportedly then threw the gun down and ran away.
The trooper stayed with the gun and the driver.
Milan police took Ivory into custody a short time later during a search of the area.
Ivory is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, evading arrest, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 29 in Trenton.
Ross is charged with driving on revoked/suspended license, possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is free on a $25,000 bond and is set to appear in court March 29 in Trenton.
