Congregants gather for Good Friday service as part of Holy Week series

JACKSON, Tenn. — A community gathers Friday in downtown Jackson for the fifth day of Holy Week.

Holy Week day 5In this week leading up to Easter Sunday, the Jackson Area Ministerial Association coordinates services.

Friday’s service was held at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeremy Brown of Journey Church giving the message.

Brown says on this Good Friday there’s no better way to gather together and show the purpose of this week.

“The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing, so this is really what all these services have been about is, this is what unites us — it’s Christ — crucified, he died, was buried, resurrected, according to scriptures,” Brown said.

Good Friday is the day Christians remember the crucifixion of Jesus before he rose again three days later, which is celebrated on Easter.
