Humboldt firefighter honored for risking life to save man in house fire
HUMBOLDT, Tenn.-A Humboldt firefighter is honored for saving a man and risking his own life to do so.
On March 11, firefighters arrived at a home to find a man physically unable to get out of the house as a kitchen grease fire began to spread.
Lieutenant Michael Lewis was one of three firefighters who rescued the man from the burning home and credits a team effort for the heroic rescue.
“Any fireman will tell you it’s a team effort. It takes an entire department and it wasn’t just us. It was the rescue squad and the police department,” said Lieutenant Lewis.
Fire Chief Chester Owens and Lieutenant Jackie McClanton were also honored for their exemplary work during the rescue.
