Anne Marie Calderaro, 34, of Gleason is charged with DUI, reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license after the incident that took place just before midnight in the 2000 block of Tyson Drive, according to an incident report from the Union City Police Department.

The officer had responded to the area to check an unattended car on the side of the street. As the officer was standing near the car, another vehicle came down the street and continued to accelerate, according to the report.

The officer shined his flashlight at the car to try to get the driver to slow down, and the driver then reportedly veered toward the officer.

The policeman jumped out of the way and narrowly avoided being hit, and the driver slammed on the brakes and ran into the back of the abandoned car, according to the report.

The driver then put the vehicle in reverse and backed up rapidly.

Police say the officer, unsure of the situation, pointed his gun and flashlight at the driver and ordered her to stop the car.

The driver, identified as Calderaro, then complied with the officer’s orders and was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Calderaro admitted to drinking earlier in the day and acted as if possibly under the influence.

A check of her driver’s license revealed that it was suspended in the state of Tennessee.

Calderaro was taken to a hospital and submitted to a blood test.
