Child struck, killed by vehicle near Jackson
PELAHATCHIE, Miss. (AP) – Authorities say a child has died after being hit by a vehicle outside of Jackson.
Multiple media outlets report the incident happened Wednesday night in Pelahatchie.
Pelahatchie Chief of Police Glenda Shoemaker says the child, who was under 5 years old, was hit and killed at a residence near Highway 80. The child’s identity hasn’t been released.
Pelahatchie police Capt. Kevin Poole says it appears the child was playing and happened to wander in the street when he was accidentally hit by a pickup truck.
