Investigators: Passenger assaulted driver before crash
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say that a man who was killed in a crash in Greene County this week was reportedly assaulting the driver of the SUV before it ran off the road and overturned.
The Greeneville Sun is reporting that investigators with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department are still trying to determine what caused the deadly confrontation inside the vehicle.
Authorities say that 37-year-old William E. Foster, of Johnson City, died at the scene of Wednesday’s crash. The driver of the SUV was identified as 28-year-old John Thomas Bishop. Bishop was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center, but his condition is not available.
A report says the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the SUV overturned before slamming into an embankment and going airborne.
