Generals players, coaches ready for season-opener

JACKSON, Tenn — Just days away from the start of minor league baseball again in the Hub City, the Jackson Generals met with the media for the first time Tuesday afternoon.

With opening day just two days away, coaches and players said they think this roster has the potential to do great things this season.

“I think we’ve got some guys that didn’t have as good of years last year as they would have liked and they’re comign back for redemption, and we got some guys coming in hot,” outfielder, Tyler O’Neill said. “I think we’re gonna have a good year this year, and we all want to make an impact in the Southern League here.”

“We’ve got a pretty good team,” pitcher Edwin Diaz explained. “Everybody feels like a family here and that’s good because if we feel like a family, I think we will win a lot of games.”

“A lot of it starts on the mound,” Generals Manager Daren Brown said. “If you got guys who can throw strikes and go after hitters, get the ball behind them, this team’s gonna be fun to watch.”

Fans will get a chance to meet the generals for themselves Wednesday night at Englewood Baptist at 6:00.
