Police say man punched girlfriend in front of them, assaulted officers
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is accused of assaulting officers and resisting arrest after police say he assaulted his girlfriend Monday at a Jackson apartment.
Joshua Stigler faces assault charges after police responded Monday night to a domestic disturbance at a Greenwood Avenue residence.
Police say they saw Stigler punch his girlfriend in the face, and she reportedly told officers he had hit her several times before police arrived.
When police tried to arrest Stigler, they say he pushed officers away in an attempt to avoid arrest.
Police also found 10 Alprazolam pills in a folded piece of paper in Stigler’s pocket while taking him into custody, according to court papers.
Stigler is charged with assault on an officer, simple domestic assault, resisting arrest and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.
He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
