THP identifies victims in deadly Gibson Co. crash
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Two women were killed in a Tuesday morning traffic crash in north Gibson County.
Linda Griggs, 43, of Dyer and Misty Doretich, 32, of Trenton were killed in the wreck, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Two other people were injured and airlifted from the scene of the two-vehicle wreck near the intersection of Old Trenton Dresden Road and Highway 105. The crash happened just before 9:30 a.m., according to the report.
“We were told it was two vehicles. Both vehicles were on fire, people trapped in the vehicles,” Gibson County Fire Chief Bryan Cathey said. “We have transported two people by Air Evac helicopter to the Med with life-threatening injuries.”
According to the THP report, a GMC box truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 105 when a 2000 Buick LeSabre entered the highway from traveling northbound on Old Trenton Dresden Road.
Both vehicles exited the north side of Highway 105. The box truck overturned and came to rest on its side, according to the report. The truck was not carrying cargo.
The car hit an unoccupied business and came to rest against the building.
The intersection was shut down for more than four hours as crews worked to remove the victims from the car.
