Jackson Generals hit diamond for opening day Thursday
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Generals are set to take to the diamond Thursday for opening day.
“Believe it or not, it’s only the second time we’ve opened at home since 2005,” Brandon Liebhaber, manager of broadcasting and media relations for the Jackson Generals, said.
From setting the field to painting, there’s no shortage of last-minute touches to make Wednesday.
Liebhaber said there are a few new experiences to enjoy at the Ballpark this year.
A table top has been added behind the top row of seats to allow baseball fans a chance to stand and enjoy concessions without having to take them back to seats.
There’s also a “man cave” area set up along left field. With flat-screen TVs and games like ping pong, the area is designed with entertainment in mind.
While WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News was at the Ballpark Wednesday, this year’s Generals were warming up on their home turf.
“They’re doing a lot of drills, a lot of practice,” Liebhaber said. “They’re ready to actually play in a game.”
Thursday’s home opener falls on the first dollar night of the year. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
