Trial continued for 1 charged in deaths of Miss. officers
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – The April 14 trial of one of nine charged in the shooting deaths of Hattiesburg police officers Benjamin J. Deen and Liquori Tate has been continued. No new trial date has been set.
Cornelius Clark, charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, pleaded not guilty and is out on $75,000 bond.
The Hattiesburg American reports Clark is accused of suppressing physical evidence by disposing of a shirt he was wearing when the shooting occurred.
Deen and Tate were shot during a 2015 traffic stop. Both men later died at Forrest General Hospital.
Marvin Banks, the alleged shooter, was found dead Dec. 11 in his jail cell at the Forrest County Jail. An autopsy report showed Banks died of apparent heart disease.
