Medina Elementary students raise $10K for St. Jude
MEDINA, Tenn. — One local school went above and beyond for cancer research.
Medina Elementary School students raised funds through their math-a-thon to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
They celebrated Friday not only reaching but exceeding their goal. The students who raised the most money were able to throw pies in the faces of teachers and principals.
“We had a goal of $7,000 to raise for St. Jude, but we ended up raising over $10,000,” 1st grade teacher Hannah Gregory said. “The community just really came together and worked hard to make a big difference, a big gift.”
Teachers say their goal was to teach the students that life is about helping others. More than 600 pre-K through second grade students participated in the fundraiser.
