Police ask public to help ID woman in phone theft

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police are asking the public to help identify a woman they say stole someone’s cell phone from a local convenience store.

Raceway phone theftThe woman can be seen in security video from April 1 putting the phone into her purse while at the Raceway located at 2023 South Highland Avenue, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.

The suspect is described as a black woman with a short haircut and wearing a light blue, sleeveless shirt and black, knee-length shorts.

Police say the video shows the woman get into a newer model Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified black man who is not believed to be involved.

The vehicle was last seen leaving the parking lot and turning west onto Highway 18.

Anyone who can identify the woman from the photo or has other information related to the case is asked to call Jackson police at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-TIPS (8477).
