Police ask public to help ID woman in phone theft

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police are asking the public to help identify a woman they say stole someone’s cell phone from a local convenience store.

The woman can be seen in security video from April 1 putting the phone into her purse while at the Raceway located at 2023 South Highland Avenue, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.

The suspect is described as a black woman with a short haircut and wearing a light blue, sleeveless shirt and black, knee-length shorts.

Police say the video shows the woman get into a newer model Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified black man who is not believed to be involved.

The vehicle was last seen leaving the parking lot and turning west onto Highway 18.
