TN State Parks offers volunteer events for TN Promise students

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State Parks and Natural Areas are offering a variety of volunteer events on Saturday, April 16, to help TN Promise students log in community service hours.

pic-tnstateparks.jpgNearly 60 projects are planned which may include clearing brush and limbs, planting flowers, building trails, assisting with fun community service events or maintaining historic features such as 2,000-year-old Native American mounds, according to a press release.

“This is a great opportunity for young people to improve a state park or natural area while banking volunteer service hours and having fun in a beautiful setting all at the same time,” said Deputy Commissioner of Parks and Conservation Brock Hill.

The TN Promise provides tuition-free community and technical college to recent high school graduates. All TN promise students are required to complete eight hours of community service by Aug. 1.
