JMCSS budget committee approves proposed spending plan for 2016-17 school year

JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson-Madison County School Board’s budget committee met to finalize their spending plan for the next school year.

After weeks of hashing out the details of “Vision 2020” savings and re-purposing of funds going into the 2016-17 school year, the committee approved a proposed budget. The general purpose, food service and capital budgets were all approved.

Superintendent Doctor Verna Ruffin said she is sure there will be more discussion, but is optimistic.

“We want to make sure that “Vision 2020″ really puts us into that next realm for Jackson-Madison County Schools,” said Dr. Ruffin.

If the school board approves the budget Thursday night, Doctor Ruffin will present that budget to the Madison County Commission, Friday.
