Kristie Foster, 37, of Medina is charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and following too closely, according to booking documents.

Foster has been employed with the sheriff’s department since Dec. 1, 2010, according to Tom Mapes, the department’s public information officer.

According to a citation from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a state trooper stopped a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Foster at 2:51 a.m. Saturday on the Highway 45 Bypass near the Oil Well Road intersection.

The car reportedly crossed the left line once, the right line twice and was swerving within the lane. Foster was also following the vehicle in front of her too closely with less than one car length’s distance in between, according to the citation. She also was reportedly speeding at 60 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper saw that Foster’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person, according to the citation.

The trooper conducted field sobriety tests on Foster, and she “exhibited several indicators of impairment,” according to the citation. She told the trooper she had drank one beer.

Foster is free on bond.
