Jackson Symphony announces 2016-17 concert lineup

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Symphony announced its 2016-17 concert lineup on Wednesday.

Opening night will be Saturday, Sept. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Throughout the symphony’s 58th season, performances will feature works from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Bizet’s Carmen Suites.

“Every concert has in and of itself, something fun, something new, something borrowed, something old, so we think every concert stands on its own two feet,” said Peter Shannon, the symphony’s artistic director and conductor.

In the last year, the Jackson Symphony says it’s seen a 40 percent increase in attendance. This will be director Peter Shannon’s third season.
