DA finds Gibson Co. officer-involved shooting was justified
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Following a lengthy TBI investigation, the Gibson County District Attorney said a November officer-involved shooting near Trenton was justified.
According to investigators, on Nov. 15, Michael Bartkiewicz called 911 several times saying he was heavily armed and that he would harm law enforcement officers.
Gibson County deputies say Bartkiewicz pointed a firearm at officers and made threats. That is when deputies fired multiple shots, killing him at the scene.
According to Attorney General Garry Brown, it is his opinion that the officers’ actions were justified, and no charges will be filed.
