Fugitive captured in Madison County following manhunt

CANTON, Miss. (AP) – A suspect who led authorities on a manhunt has been captured in Madison County.

Media outlets report Canton police say Joshua Hadden was arrested Sunday afternoon.

Police say earlier that morning, an officer spotted Hadden, who was wanted on aggravated assault and kidnapping charges, at a gas station.

Canton Police Chief Otha Brown says Hadden got into an altercation with officers and got away. An officer sustained a broken leg during the incident.

The suspect was spotted hours later at a Canton service station and arrested. Brown says while being transported to the sheriff’s department, Hadden kicked out the window of the police vehicle and tried to escape.

He faces additional charges, including assault on a police officer, destruction of property and escape.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
