Police say officers find crack, heroin during traffic stop

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Saturday afternoon traffic stop for a seat belt violation led to the discovery of crack cocaine, heroin and other drugs, according to police.

Brandon Terrell Williams is facing drug and evading arrest charges after police stopped the car he was driving just after 3 p.m. Saturday on East Chester Street.

Williams got out and tried to walk away from the vehicle, according to police, and then ran away when they tried to stop him. He was arrested a short time later on Middle Avenue.

When officers searched the car they reportedly found 9.5 grams of powder cocaine, 7.3 grams of crack cocaine and 1.1 grams of heroin.

Williams is charged with possession of schedule I & II with intent and evading arrest.

The judge set Williams’ bond at $20,000.
