Jackson chosen for $50K Tenn. Main Street Entrepreneur Grant

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Hub City is among six communities to receive $50,000 Tennessee Main Street Entrepreneur Grants.

Jackson Downtown Development CorporationState officials announced Tuesday that Jackson Downtown Development Corporation’s project to create three new retail storefronts for entrepreneurs has been accepted among the first round of the grants, according to a release from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.

The storefronts will be located on vacant lots and will use repurposed shipping containers.

“Tennessee has become a great state for entrepreneurs, and by creating a supportive and nurturing ecosystem we can maintain our reputation as being a place that’s known for startup success,” Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd states in the release.

The grant program was offered to accredited Tennessee Main Street communities, and grants were competitively scored.

The Jackson Downtown Development Corporation’s partners include theCO, the city of Jackson and University of Memphis Lambuth.
