Local competitive hip-hop team prepares to compete in world championship
JACKSON, Tenn.-“Eye of the Storm”, a local competitive hip-hop team from “Glory Gymnastics” performed for their parents, Wednesday night before they compete in the world championship.
The group will make the trek to Orlando, Florida this weekend to go up against 50 teams from around the globe. The team has been practicing since July and their coach said it is about more than winning.
“It means the world to us. I tell them, ‘don’t let a trophy dictate who you are… a trophy means absolutely nothing.’ We have 50 million trophy shops in Jackson, we can go get a trophy. Go out there and have fun and make the memories last,” said Travis Franklin, the team’s coach.
The group will head out Thursday, before their competition, Saturday.
