Sheriff John Mehr issues a phone scam alert

JACKSON Tenn. — Madison County Sheriff, John Mehr, has issued an alert concerning a phone scam.

Phone Scam AlertThe Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a person claiming to be a representative of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and this person is threatening citizens, according to the MCSO spokesperson, Tom Mapes.

Officials say, the scammer is calling citizens and threatening to arrest them if they do not pay a certain amount of money quickly. The Sheriff’s Office has stated they do not have such a threatening policy and they did not place those calls.
