State gives 2,000 smoke alarms to Greenville
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Dozens of Greenville homes deemed to be fire risks will receive smoke alarms thanks to a partnership between the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office and the national Vision 20/20 project.
Commissioner of Insurance and State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney said in a news release that the distribution of nearly 2,000 smoke alarms on Saturday will be the culmination of a week-long fire safety education campaign in Greenville.
Chaney thanked Vision 20/20, a national project dedicated to fire prevention efforts, for providing the devices.
The Greenville Fire Department, state Fire Marshal deputies and volunteers will install up to 2,000 smoke alarms in homes that have been identified as being the most at risk in the area.
