Deputies seek 2 suspects in armed robbery at Haywood Co. truck stop
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies are searching for two suspects after an armed robbery at a truck stop east of Brownsville.
Deputies say around 3 p.m. two masked men entered the Exxon Truck Stop off Interstate 40 at Exit 66 on Highway 70.
One of the men reportedly stood at the door as a lookout while the other brandished a handgun at the clerk.
The gunman grabbed the cash drawer and took the money before returning the drawer to the clerk, according to the sheriff’s office.
The two men then ran from the store on foot down Cane Creek Road Extended where deputies believe they had a getaway car waiting.
Deputies say the men may not have realized the road was a dead end and had to turn around and pass the truck stop again before leaving the scene.
Officers found masks and other clothing items along the road.
The two suspects are described as black men, one wearing a pink hoodie and the other a white hoodie. Both were reportedly wearing dark pants and have slender builds. Deputies say they may have been driving a white or silver late-model Chevy Impala or Malibu.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department at 731-772-2412.
