Man enters plea in 2015 murder case
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man charged in a January 2015 murder entered a plea Monday morning in circuit court.
Jeremy Echols pleaded guilty to the facilitation of second-degree murder in the death of James Roberson in January 2015 outside a home on Woodberry Trail.
He also pleaded guilty to felony possession of a firearm.
Echols took a best interest plea instead of taking the case to trial.
“I think it was a good compromise for both sides,” Echol’s attorney Angela Hopson said. “I think the state and we can both acknowledge that we both had an uphill battle in trying to try this case.”
Echols will serve a 30-year sentence at the department of corrections and a 45 percent release eligibility.
