Hearing delayed for man charged with toddler’s death

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) – A preliminary hearing for the Hancock County man charged with capital murder in the death of a toddler has been delayed.

WLOX TV reports Charles Connetti III will now go before a judge on June 7.

Connetti is charged with the death of Maddox Vieregge. Investigators said the toddler was in Connetti’s care when he suffered severe head trauma.

The 15-month-old died at a hospital in New Orleans on April 2.

Deputies say Connetti was not Maddox’s biological father, but he acted as the child’s father. He was the boyfriend of toddler’s mother.
