Top ESPN Recruit Trey Smith

JACKSON, Tenn — ESPN Top 300 Rankings were released Wednesday morning and at the top was USJ Bruins offensive tackle Trey Smith. Smith who measures in at 6’5 300 pounds is an athletic freak and a nightmare for opposing defensive lines.

He is being recruited from all over, but said he’s nowhere near close to making a decision.

Smith knows now that he is the number one prospect, his work is only just beginning.

Being number one that means you’re being held to a whole other standard so to say, Smith said.  “Means I have to work my butt off, first off getting in the weight room every day, can’t miss workouts, can’t miss practice. Means I have to practice more, you know now because I have a target on my back. You know everyone wants to get the number one guy. So right now I just have to keep working harder, more motivation.”

Smith will continue to work hard, and says he wants to prove to everyone this season how physical he can be, and his strength in the running game.

He has not made a decision on where he will want to enroll early next year, but said he will narrow his choices down this summer.

Smith says he wants to enroll early as it will give him a jump on other incoming freshman, put him on a fast course to graduate and hopefully earn his masters degree.
