Homeowner recalls moments truck plowed through 2 homes

JACKSON, Tenn. — “It shook everything,” Robin Taylor said as she recounts a homeowner’s nightmare. “You could hear him coming.”

IMG_3100In a shocking sight, neighbors rushed to catch a glimpse of a crash Wednesday evening in south Jackson. “I had to come and see for myself what was going on,” Robert Turner said.

On Thursday morning, Jackson homeowner Robin Taylor says she’s thankful to be alive after a Ford pickup truck rammed into her garage Wednesday night.

Taylor said she was sleeping directly above the garage.

“I heard the tires squealing, and then I heard him hit my car.” Mistaking the wreck for an earthquake, Taylor said her personal belongings went flying everywhere.

The truck didn’t stop in Taylor’s garage, and the driver plowed into her neighbors’ dining room before coming to a stop.

“They’re OK. The house is demolished,” she said. “Our bricks are in the living room.”

Eyewitnesses said the road is known for speeding and that the man behind the wheel was visibly driving fast and may have been drinking.

Nearby neighbors say if it weren’t for the obvious signs of destruction, the wreck would be almost unbelievable.

Taylor said the insurance company will cover the costs of repairs.

She credits her faith for keeping her and family members safe during the crash.

The driver of the truck went to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if he will face charges.
