Officials release name of highway worker killed on I-40
CENTERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the road worker killed on Interstate 40 West.
According to media, a THP report says 65-year-old David Younger of Nashville died Thursday when a semi-truck veered off the road in Hickman County, hitting him and two Tennessee Department of Transportation vehicles. Three other workers were injured.
TDOT said Younger’s death is the agency’s first fatality since 2013. Younger had been with the department since 2010.
The THP report says the TDOT workers had stopped to fix a flat tire and had unloaded construction equipment on the right shoulder of the road with emergency lights activated when the crash occurred.
