Orbitz survey shows cheapest weeks to travel for Summer 2016

According to travel site Orbitz, 75 percent of Americans are planning to take a trip this summer — a 7 percent increase from last year. Since fuel costs are down, the cost of airfare has decreased ten percent; however, hotel prices have seen a 17 percent increase.

The travel company says with average vacation budgets under $1,500 travelers can find savings by booking packages, using hotel promotions and planning around the right time.

Orbitz says the best time to book for Memorial Day weekend is May 4-10. For travelers planning to fly for the Fourth of July will find the best deals between June 1-7. The best times to fly this summer are the first weeks in June and July and the last week of August.
