County leaders talk plans for new Madison Co. Jail

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — County leaders are taking steps toward building a new jail and making renovations to the current Criminal Justice Complex.

A special committee will meet with nine architectural firms Wednesday and Thursday to discuss possible plans.

Committee members say they will rank their top companies and are hopeful to eventually take those plans before the County Commission for a vote.

The sheriff’s office building is also dealing with air conditioning problems. A fix is estimated to cost half a million dollars.
