2 accused of threatening witness in pending case

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man and woman are facing accusations of threatening a witness in a pending case.

Court documents say phone conversations May 3 between Brandon Theus and his girlfriend, Haley Stegall, record the woman agreeing to call and text a witness in Theus’ pending case.

Theus had a trial approaching for a convicted felon in possession of a handgun charge.

Theus told Stegall to contact the witness and tell him not to go to court, according to court papers. He also reportedly told her to tell the witness he was “serious” and knew where the witness lived.

Both are charged with coercion of a witness and have since posted bail.
