After months of training, nearly two dozen graduate as volunteer firefighters

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.-Congratulations are in order for a new graduating class of the Madison County Fire Department.

On Friday evening, 19 men, of various ages graduated after months of grueling training, testing them both mentally and physically.
The total number of volunteer firefighters is now just more than 180. The chief said this is a good day for his department.

“We’re really excited about, you know, when you put 19 new firemen out at one time, it really makes a difference in a volunteer department,”
said Madison County Fire Chief Eric Turner.

The chief said the new firefighters will be assigned to locations throughout the county. The Madison County Fire Department operates 16 different fire stations.
