“Dunk the Directors” aims to up attendance in learning programs
DYER, Tenn.-Administrators with the Gibson County Special School District literally fell to new lows today to up attendance in its extended learning programs.
To give them an incentive, officials volunteered to get a little wet in the program’s “Dunk the Directors” event.
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers aim to provide students with enrichment opportunities and support services to help them meet local and state school standards.
“When other students are going home ,they’re staying and they’re working hard to make those gains. So just a grand finale to say “job well done and let’s have a little fun,” said Letitia Smith with the Extended Learning Center.
The 21st CCLC serves five schools in the Gibson County Special School District alone, which includes Kenton, Rutherford, Dyer, Yorkville, and Spring Hill.
