PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (AP) – Twenty-four people are in the running for Pass Christian school superintendent.

Among the candidates are four superintendents, five assistant superintendents, a former superintendent, a curriculum/professional development coordinator, a chief academic officer, two executive directors of instruction, a director of assessment, a director of student support services and seven school principals.

The Sun Herald reports the school board on Tuesday heard from the Executive Director of the Mississippi School Boards Association, Mike Waldrop regarding candidates for the position.

Superintendent Beth John announced in February that she will retire in June after four-years as superintendent. She’s been a part of the district since 1977.

Trustees are evaluating candidates. Part of the background checks include reference letters, transcripts and Mississippi State Administrator Certification.
