Bond denied in Lamar County shooting death

PURVIS, Miss. (AP) – The suspect in last weekend’s shooting in Lamar County that left one woman dead remains behind bars.

During an initial appearance Tuesday in Lamar County Justice Court, The Hattiesburg American reports Judge Bill Anderson denied bond for 24-year-old Breanna Conerly accused in the death of 24-year-old Iesha Magee.

Coroner Cody Creel said Magee died Sunday afternoon from a single gunshot wound she received early Saturday morning behind the Lowe’s store in Hattiesburg.

Conerly initially was charged with aggravated assault, but the charge was upgraded to murder after Magee’s death.

Sheriff Danny Rigel said officials are still investigating the incident.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Conerly.
