Authorities capture escaped Weakley County inmate early Friday
WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — A Weakley County inmate who was on the run has been captured and is now facing new charges.
Authorities apprehended Derrick Miguel Nicholson, 25, of Meridian, Mississippi early Friday morning. Nicholson was an inmate at the Weakley County Tennessee Detention Center where he was serving time for aggravated burglary, according to officials.
Weakley County Sheriff Mike Wilson said Nicholson was on a work detail in Dresden Thursday when he walked away. Officials say a report of Nicholson being sighted around Snake Hill Road near Dresden led deputies of the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department on a chase that ended with Nicholson’s capture around 6 a.m. Friday near K Street and East Side Cemetery in Martin.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol aided in the search with a helicopter, according to a release.
The release states that Nicholson is now facing new charges of escape and evading arrest.
