TBI arrests Ripley man on First Degree Murder charge
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Ripley man has been arrested by Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Special Agents on murder and weapons charges.
Jabarre Jarret, 27, was arrested Friday night and charged with on count of First Degree Murder, one count of Employing a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, according to a press release.
Officials say a Ripley police officer responded to a disturbance call on May 10 and found 22-year-old Arric Lamont Ford deceased with apparent gunshot wounds to the chest. The report says he was found lying in the road near a vehicle at the intersection of Highland Extended and Joanne Street. During an investigation, TBI Agents developed information that Jabarre Jarrett had been involved in an altercation with the victim earlier that night and later caught up with him at that intersection where he shot and killed Ford, according to officials.
Jarret was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail. His bond has not yet been set.
