County commission budget committee meets with JMC School System
JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson-Madison County School System met with the county commission budget committee Monday afternoon to once again discuss the district’s budget for the next fiscal year.
The committee went through the school system’s budget, discussing requests for increases…where the “Vision 2020” savings will go and how that money will be re-purposed.
Also up for discussion, the school system’s 5-year plan for capitol improvements.
“We expect that we are going to see some cost savings over time. But we cannot show exactly where those savings are today because we have not experienced all the changes that will occur as a result of that,” said Dr. Verna Ruffin, Superintendent of Schools for Jackson-Madison County.
Doctor Ruffin said the budget committee asked the school system to come back next week with some different amounts for their budget to negotiate with the commission.
